Yndling - As Fast as I Can
Listening to "As Fast as I Can," the new single by Yndling, makes me think that basically everything in life is fleeting. Never in a million years had I thought that "As Fast as I Can," might be a love song. The production is beautifully mellow, more on the darker side yet with sparkles of brightness and hope in between. Here at glamglare we have been huge fans of Silje Espevik (Yndling) ever since we saw the Norwegian singer, songwriter, and producer live at the New Colossus Festival 2023. Two years and many more brilliant songs later, we had the pleasure of seeing Yndling live again. This time, Silje was joined by a second guitarist as well as a drummer, which made for an atmospheric, highly alluring sound that's fun to watch and to experience live!
Asked about her latest work, Silje says:
"'As Fast as I Can' is a love song, although the production might suggest otherwise. My last single, 'It’s Almost Like You’re Here', revolves around being with someone who’s too scared to take the leap into love, and be vulnerable, and how frustrating it feels to be the one who’s the most ready and having to wait around. However I think most people have been on both sides of a situation like that, and 'As Fast as I Can' is kind of a response; It’s about coming out of a difficult time and not feeling steady enough to let go of control, as you kind of have to in order to start a new relationship, because you’re scared of being hurt or whatever. It’s about feeling that love is there, but not feeling ready for it just yet - so it’s a love song and an explanation all in one - 'I’m going as fast as I can'.
