VIDEO PICKS OF THE WEEK: ALONZO, Cujo Moon, Emika, Emilia Tarrant
ALONZO – Distractions
Everything about ALONZO‘s new single and video “Distractions” is irresistibly fabulous! The Los Angeles-based rock-soul fusion artist, choreographer, and songwriter taps into early 80s famous dance styles and takes them to a new level. Thanks to the fashionable wardrobe (Beatrice Valenzuela, the sensual cinematography (Santiago Cologero), and the infectious choreography (Brooklyn Jai) director Marshall King had plenty of exciting material to work with.
Add ALONZO’s star power and killer vocals and the result is music and visuals for the ages! Maybe not surprisingly, ALONZO was the first singer to ever be approved by The Prince Estate to sing on the 4 U Prince Tour. Excellent choice!
Not shy to talk about things, ALONZO explains:
I’m often asked why I am single. ‘Distractions’ is me answering that question. Once we finished the song I went to my video director Marshall King and we started to plan the music video. My only intention was to give the ultimate music video performance and prove why I am an up-and-coming artist that should be taken seriously in this business. I also hope Beyonce sees it because it is my dream to be the first male artist signed to Parkwood Entertainment.”

Cujo Moon – Watch You Shine
Trevor Willmott the folk musician behind the alias of Cujo Moon, is originally from Lexington, Kentucky and now calls Nashville, Tennessee his home. For the video to his ultra-gorgeous new single “Watch You Shine” he teamed up with Grouch Bucket, aka Ryan, who animated and produced the mesmerizing video.
Ryan says:
As I relistened to ‘Watch You Shine’, the lyrics started sounding like a mantra toward the self, rather than an outcry to someone else. I can’t speak for others, but I know It’s hard for me to be compassionate towards myself and the inner journey I am constantly on. The outside world can be a crazy place, but the inner journey is where we get to decide what to do about it. The video is about the inner journey of peeling back the layers, facing the hard stuff, and finding the light through all of the darkness. Bad things happen, it’s inevitable, but when they do may this video serve as a reminder to gently whisper to yourself, ‘Come on my love, it’s gonna be alright…’
Cujo Moon explains further:
For this video, I really wanted to let Ryan take the reigns. He is a good friend of mine and I totally trust his artistic vision. He has a signature style of abstract storytelling through a colourful fantasy-esque setting. I hope when people watch the video that they let go of making literal interpretations and instead just let their imaginations run wild. If anything, I hope the song and video bring about a sense of hope and healing. We all go through pain in life and sometimes it can bring us to some pretty dark places. This song is about rising out of those places and letting go of our heavier attachments.

Emilia Tarrant
Emilia Tarrant is a singer/songwriter from Winchester, England. In her new song “Honeymoon Phase,” she describes rough patches a relationship can go through after the early butterflies stop fluttering. The beautifully filmed video shows the rollercoaster of emotions a young couple can go through. Emilia recalls:
” ‘Honeymoon Phase is based on the stereotypical fairy-tale beginning that most new relationships endure, and surviving the end of it. It covers the ebbs and flows of a new relationship, the choice we face whether it’s worth fighting for, as well as the inevitable cyclical argumentative stage: ‘we fight, we cry, we hug, we fight again’.”
