Akira Galaxy – Virtual Eyes
Seattle artist Akira Galaxy moves through an enchanted world, following a fleeting idea of love. The video, directed by Silken Weinberg and Angela Ricciardi, was shot in France.
Akira says about the song:
“Writing this song was a cathartic experience. It came together when I was in a state of complete brokenness, and being in the vortex of this song is what pieced me back together. I think the most secretly beautiful thing about life is turning the darkest moments into light, and the way I know how to do that is through the music.”

La Faute – Watercolours
Peggy Messing, the artist behind the moniker La Faute, French for ‘the mistake,’ says about her new song:
“Watercolours are so difficult to control when you’re painting, the colours won’t stay put, they never stick to where you want them to. Sometimes when they are still wet, the picture looks amazing and it’s so exciting, but then the water dries and what’s left behind looks chalky and muddy, the good part has evaporated. Sometimes though, you think you’ve made a huge mess. When the paint dries you’re surprised to find that there’s a beautiful bleed that you never could have planned, like a flower or running mascara between the colours.”
That’s true, but for me, that’s also the beauty of that medium in contrary to acrylics or pastels. Painting with watercolors comes with some built-in suspense and surprise, and like with most things in life; you get better the more you’re doing it. The video is perfect in its black-and-white, cinematic feel, yet I wished the clip would end in color because traffic- and street lights are so beautifully reflected in the rain. However, that’s clearly not what La Flaute had in mind, and the song and video are mesmerizing as is. La Faute also has her debut album coming out, BlueGirl Nice Day, due to drop on 26th May 2023.

Royel Otis – Sofa King
Sydney’s indie-rock duo Royel Otis is gaining more and more enthusiastic followers and serious attraction. With their latest single, “Sofa King,” and the accompanying music video, their popularity will only grow further, which is a good thing! Royel Otis say about “Sofa King:”
“A baggy beat, jangly guitars and a soaring synth to bring home what you really want to say. You are couch royalty in a messed up world. Own it with pride!”
While released 33 years earlier, Royel Otis’ music video reminds me of “Enjoy the Silence,” yes, Depeche Mode‘s super hit that sees frontman Dave Gahan wearing a crown and walking through different nature settings carrying a lawn chair. Somehow, my brain meshes “Sofa King” and “man looking like a king” and “man sitting on a lawn chair” with “king carrying a lawn chair.” But watch for yourself because “Sofa King” is definitely fun to watch. Kudos to Royel Otis and director Ady Neshoda:

Skott – Roses N Guns
Swedish singer/songwriter Skott performs a complicated ritual at dusk that involves a shovel, a giant gem, and a car. “Roses N Guns” is the title track of Skott’s second album, out now on Cosmos.
