Urban Heat - You’ve Got That Edge
Austin-based post-punk trio Urban Heat just released the last single from their upcoming album The Tower, the super catchy and dancefloor-ready “You’ve Got That Edge.” While I liked the song from the spot and felt reminded of some 80s favorites by Prince of the Blood or The Damned, it suddenly hit me! “You’ve Got That Edge” has all the fixings that made “Mr. Brightside” such a super hit (even though it took a bit to really take off) and The Killers a household name: the big anthemic chorus, the mesmerizing vocals with its inescapable urgency, the driving beats, the dramatic keys… it all comes perfectly together, and I cannot wait to listen to the album in its entirety.
Asked about the last single from their upcoming album, lead singer Jonathan Horstmann says:
“This track is for anyone who looks in the mirror and doesn’t feel like the reflection is a good representation of who they really are. Humans make changes for all kinds of deeply personal reasons, and doing so can be scary and isolating, so we wanted to remind anyone who feels isolated that they are a force of nature.”
Urban Heat’s sophomore album The Tower will be out on August 16th via Artofact Records. Listen to “You’ve Got That Edge,” our Song Pick of the Day:
