SONG PREMIERE: Grant Swift - I Just Can’t Honestly
Songwriter, singer and producer Grant Swift is gearing up for the release of his new album First Elephant, out on August 6th. We are excited to premiere “I Just Can’t Honestly” from this splendid new record. As the album’s opener, “I Just Can’t Honestly,” sets the mood beautifully. It gives room to Swift’s gorgeous falsetto, takes us gently by the hand, and offers an inviting taste of what the seven-track album has to offer. Asked about the track, the New York-native artist says:
“I Just Can’t Honestly” is one of the more acoustic and pensive offerings from First Elephant. The song explores feelings of inadequacy in a hyper-competitive world, and the somber and incapacitating realization that emotionally honest assessments of the world are fleeting.
While First Elephant is Swift’s solo project, he is also known as part of the acoustic duo Mac/Glidden. When in early March 2020, the duo was were performing live, Swift contracted COVID-19. During his time in quarantined recovery, Swift wrote and recorded a two-song album about his varying perspectives on the pandemic: Fear and Love in the Time of Corona.
Knowing about these particular circumstances puts the solo album, especially “I Just Can’t Honsetly,” in an even more significant perspective. It is heartwarming and inspiring to learn how to deal with such a life-altering experience, move on, and most likely have a different outlook on life.
While we are fond of the entire album and dig the already released singles “What I’m Thinking” and “Sunshine,” we are especially delighted to premiere “I Just Can’t Honestly,” as our Song Pick of the Day:
