SONG PREMIERE: ANNAVR - Total Vibration
Berlin-based musician ANNAVR has her very own ideas of pop music. Coming from a jazz and classical background, she completely ignores genre rules and creates a sprawling musical world of her own.
“Total Vibration” is the third single off her upcoming EP “II: Vibration” (out on March 8) and another piece in her fascinating sonic mosaic. Industrial sounds, electronics, a piano and jazzy acoustic drums seem to battle it out before the song falls into sweeping harmony. ANNAVR gives some background about the song:
“Total Vibration” is the opening track of my 2nd EP that’s all about our quest for romance and freedom in the current digital era. This song in particular touches on desire and the physical sensation of it with the lyrics, “I wanna dance your body, I wanna feel your total vibration”. The song opens on a mellotron melody, followed by a broken beat and helicopter sounds, blending into live drums and piano. We recorded this at the infamous Berlin Funkhaus (home to e.g. Nils Frahm). I wanted to create an ecstatic and warm passage intended to let your mind journey on this EP trip.
