SONG PICK: ISLAND - All In My Head
European and American fans of indie rockers ISLAND can rejoice together, as the London-based four-piece is gearing up for their headlining tour in Europe and then makes their way over to the states again. If you were lucky enough to have caught ISLAND at SXSW2018, then you might want to see them again when they are scheduled to play the music festival again this year.
Previous features on glamglare showcase, that I’m smitten with ISLAND’s intricate guitar play, intelligent catchiness and unique vocals for quite a while. Their latest song is no exception! “All In My Head” starts with a nod to guitar gods like Yes’ Steve How but then swirls and shimmers into a different direction. This is not prog rock but highly enjoyable, dreamy alternative guitar rock. Something to get lost in.
Frontman Rollo Doherty offers the following about their new single:
“It’s weird, we didn’t really understand the song when we started writing it but we liked that about it, we didn’t try to understand it. The lyrics just take that idea and put it through a blender. Weirdness just mixed up with more weirdness. Just like what’s in my head.”
