SONG PICK: Charlie Gradon - Grieving (Video)
Early March, I had “Grieving” already on my radar, and ready to include it in our weekly video series. Life came in between, and while the world looks like an entirely different place today like it did only two weeks ago, “Grieving” seems to hit a nerve now more than before. The Australian singer/songwriter Charlie Gradon created “Grieving” in his bedroom studio, and has quite the backstory to it! Charlie Gradon in his own words:
“My laptop’s just died and fried my back up hard drive, erasing an album I had been working on for over a year. Written at the end of a week of great transition. I sat at the death bed of my dear Nana, to whom I was told to say goodbye. She amazingly made it through an impossible operation at 92 yet I grieved her death then and there as she smiled back at me, fearless.”
I think this fearlessness is what can be heard in “Grieving” as it is not all doom and gloom but also peppered with sprinkles of hope and optimism. “Grieving” is a quiet and gorgeous track and makes me look forward to the upcoming EP. Listen to “Grieving”, our Song Pick of the Day now:
