RUDEY - Ease My Mind
Nashville-based songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Noah Nockels, who goes by RUDEY just released the mesmerizing "Ease My Mind." To ease your mind and spare you to figure out what it might remind you of, here's why I loved the song from the spot. Maybe I've listened to MGMT's debut album too much (it was my go-to record four years after it came out), but the electronic vibe of "Ease My Mind" reminds me of that particular feel of Oracular Spectacular. The chorus, of course, offers a bit of the grinding quality of Tame Impala's 2015 "Let it Happen," which, in the end, I came to appreciate. Basically, this is indeed something experimental yet simultaneously highly alluring. It becomes even more intriguing when learning what RUDEY says about his newest work:
“Ease My Mind’ captures the raw emotion of being on the edge with someone, clinging to the last thread. I was desperate, confused, and heartbroken, but fortunate enough to have support around me, including my close friend Clay. After an emotional conversation, I was hit with a surge of creative energy and began working on the track. In what felt like less than an hour, the song was written, and I had most of the production complete. It was a true "in the moment" experience—everything came together so naturally, we knew it was something special.”
