"Slouch," the new single by London indie-rockers Moreish Idols, is a mesmerizing piece that is as creative as it is catchy. The songwriting comes from a deeply personal and challenging place, written by singer and guitarist Jude Lilley. The artist is affected by Ankylosing spondylitis, an autoimmune disease that causes arthritis in the pelvis and the spine. With "Slouch," Jude does an existential look into how we are able to adjust to the trials and tribulations of life.

In a way, this also serves as a reminder on a day like today, to trust ourselves that we can deal with life's many obstacles and unpleasant surprises. Jude says about "Slouch:"

“To be told you have something for life can be daunting and scary, but you must be reminded how lucky you are when there is a system of care. This process forced a reconsideration of what has been taken for granted and presented the opportunity to rejuvenate oneself in a way that surpasses physical form. There is no cure but there are ways to adapt with the help of medication, and if you can keep going, it’s just another card that’s been dealt. In a way, 'Slouch' is a love letter to the NHS, a thank you for making this slouching king feel pretty.”

The single is accompanied by a “Lotus Flower”-esque video, in which Jude Lilley dances against a spotlight. Listen to "Slouch," our Song Pick of the Day, and check out the video too:
