Jimmy Whispers - True Love is Freedom [Video]
It’s been eight years since formerly Chicago- now LA-based artist Jimmy Whispers released his acclaimed debut album. In the years since, he’s been busy making films and videos and music, of course, because he’s back now announcing his sophomore album, The Search For God, out June 9th. A cut from that album is the enchanting “True Love is Freedom.” The track comes with a beautiful, synthy flow and Jimmy’s warm and affirmative vocals. For the album, Jimmy enlisted his longtime friend Ziyad Asrar of the band Whitney. Asked about the second single, after “Hellscape,” Jimmy says:
“‘True Love is Freedom’ was an attempt to accurately describe the love I wanted in my life. The love I wanted to be capable of showing others as well. I wanted to manifest that. How a healthy relationship should make you feel free. How love doesn’t control, how true love naturally has absolutely no means of controlling anything. Looking back, this one was pretty influenced by The Cure. The second I played that drum machine the whole song flew out of me and all the melodies. I wrote it in a few minutes.”
