IAMJJ - Moonshine
Before I even watched the video, I was already totally in love with "Moonshine," the new single by Danish singer/songwriter IAMJJ. These are vocals I could listen to on repeat, and they are Jakob Stenfatt Jensen's, the artist behind the moniker IAMJJ. It's the second time this week that I feature a video filmed in New York, and I very much enjoyed the perspective that IAMJJ takes on here. While touristy, in a way, it also goes off the beaten path, featuring a subway station like the less glamorous York Street, for example. The flow of the music video supports the song's chill vibe and the whole thing is just stunningly beautiful!
Asked about his songwriting process, Jack says:
“Many of my songs are written from a certain state of mind. ‘Moonshine’ was born in a moment where a liberating feeling came to me with the word “no” - a word with a negative connotation but with a life-affirming power if you dare to take it with you and actually use it."
Saying 'no' can be in deed liberating, and Jakob explains further:
“Why always be a yes-man? As cynical as it may sound, life is very much about saying no. About not just settling for less to pander to others but also about putting your own needs first to feel and enjoy what you truly deserve from the life we’re given. Because if you don’t, you might end up losing yourself.”
