Holly Blair - Loud [Video]
Californian pop singer, songwriter, and filmmaker Holly Blair released one last single before her upcoming EP “Then Comes The Lightning” drops on August 28. The instantly enchanting “Loud” has the makings of a track that you want to listen to repeatedly. It’s not “loud” by any means, more the opposite, but it brings a very important message home, as Holly explains:
“The song is really like a love letter from me to anyone else who struggles with feeling overwhelmed and overstimulated, for anyone who grieves for the world we live in and how much chaos and pain there is, neurodivergent or not. For me, the song asks the question, can it just be okay to be the way we are? I came into this world extremely sensitive and spent so long trying to hide that or fight my instincts and push through just to seem “normal.” The song marks a time in my life where I wanted to find environments and people that helped me feel safe in this world and love me regardless of my quirks. It really was a way for me to tell little Holly that it was okay to be the way I am, and let her have a voice.”
She reveals further:
“I made the song with Mark McKenna, an Irish actor and musician/producer from the band Milk, and the energy in the room was really conducive to creating this kind of wandering little interlude of a song. Mark is a master at finding sounds and tones that are really soothing and beautiful to me, but are also interesting and texturally challenging, and so it was a good match with the subject matter of the song.”
The chill vibe of the track is beautifully captured in the super laid-back Cali-vibe of the video, directed by Alex Blair & Holly Blair. Listen to “Loud,” our Song Pick of the Day, and watch the video too:
