Hilang Child - 5, 6, Sidekick

Portrait of Welsh-Indonesian singer/songwriter/producer Ed Riman who makes music as Hilang Child

Earlier this year, we featured Hilang Child with the playful and catchy “Hey Man,”  and we couldn’t be happier to feature a new track by this gifted Welsh-Indonesian musician and songwriter. Via his new label LOVELY PEOPLE, Ed Riman, aka Hilang Child, released the more pensive “5, 6, Sidekick.” It’s an utterly beautiful song, and I might have listened to a lot of The Beatles lately, but “5, 6, Sidekick” instantly reminded me of the creativity and vocal beauty of a John Lennon with Ringo Star’s drumming dexterity supporting it. It is also the title track of Hilang Child’s new EP 5, 6, Sidekick. When asked about his new single, Ed says:

“ It’s about embracing your physical traits and seeing the beauty in yourself and others, no matter what people say. I was reflecting on the body standards society has perpetuated, and the insecurity people feel around being ‘too tall', ‘too short’, ‘too fat, ‘too thin’ etc. It’s about feeling fully self-confident in not fitting into those ideals, seeing those supposedly ‘imperfect’ physical traits as‘assets’ rather than ‘imperfections’, both in yourself and others.”
