Progressive avant-folk artist Hannah Frances released the first single from her upcoming album Keeper of the Shepherd, and if “Bronwyn” is any indication, the record promises to be spectacular! What the singer/songwriter does with her guitar is impressive and mesmerizing. “Bronwyn” lures you in from the first bars, intensifies, and gets more spellbinding. Hannah Frances’s open-tuning style evokes Joni Mitchel and Nick Drake, whom she also cites as her influences. While exploring the ambling guitar parts of “Bronwyn” for almost a year, Frances eventually finished writing the song in January 2022.

Interesting tidbit: Frances writes her songs in chronological order, in which they also appear on the album later. I am looking forward to digging into the album in its entirety!
