Hamish Anderson - Late in the Evening
Hamish Anderson, a superb guitarist, singer, and songwriter from Australia, captured my attention and heart back in 2015 during SXSW, where I not only saw one but two of his shows. And then in 2020, when he was one of the COVID stay-at-home highlights, when he gave a wonderful performance via streaming, very late at night or probably early in the morning for where he’s located if he’s not touring. And touring he did, as soon this was possible again. Today, he released a new single with a fantastic, groovy, yet laid-back vibe. Perfect to ease into the weekend on a Friday afternoon, despite its title suggesting otherwise. I dig the intention of “Late in the Evening” and am happy to listen to such a beautiful burst of guitar bliss, as Hamish explains:
“’Late In The Evening’ came out of wanting to create a big unapologetic heavy rock song. Turning up the fuzz pedal and laying down a seductive groove. I took everything I was listening to and have been influenced by, and mixed it up into something else. I thought of it as a scene from a film about desire and temptation; set at night and about an attraction leading to seduction between two people.”
