Giungla - Something
"'Distractions' is a word that felt immediately right for this album," says the Italian singer/songwriter Ema Drei, aka Giungla, about her debut record. Distractions from things we should accomplish in life and the ubiquitous distractions of the digital kind that soften our focus. The latest single, "Distractions," shows Ema from the grunge-pop side with fuzzy guitars, acoustic drums, and subtle electronics.
Ema explains how the album came together.
"'Distractions' is a word that felt immediately right for this album. All the songs featured on it were made bit by bit, in the evenings after work, on weekends etc, so in a way in between life and its 'distractions.' I feel that distractions take way too much space in my life (first of all, well of course, checking my phone). This record is dedicated to all those interstitial moments you finally focus and do what you love doing; in my case: making music and possibly not looking at a screen."
