The singer, songwriter, and producer Gillie sings “Llawn” in the Welsh language, which I do not speak, but musically the track hits it already home for me. Somewhere between synth- and dream-pop, the song evolves and shapeshifts over its 3:26 minutes. In other words, Gillie absolutely succeeds in “Sonically explore something that felt both rhythmically uncertain, and free, with builds and small releases of tension throughout.”
