“Reverse Bloom” is about having lost a friend, which can weigh heavier than the end of a romantic relationship. Emma Geiger from Durham, NC, paints a gentle sonic picture of the loss and the faint hope of overcoming the divide. There is a personal story behind the song, triggered by a song written by the other person. Emma recalls:

“When I first heard it, I felt her anger, frustration and bitterness. That friendship meant a lot to me, and losing it really shook me. It brought up a lot of questions about who I am, and who I was in that relationship.”
