Drab Majesty - The Skin and The Glove [Video]
“The Skin and The Glove” marks the second cut from Drab Majesty‘s upcoming album, An Object in Motion, due out on August 25 via DAIS Records. Admittedly, I just now discovered the California-based duo, whose appealing creations take from new wave and shoegaze with a sprinkle of goth and dream pop. The result is nothing but sublime. Listening to “The Skin and The Glove” brings back the excitement when I first listened to the works of Sisters of Mercy, The Mission, in the mid-80s.
Deb Demure and Mona D., who together are Drab Majesty, created the accompanying video. It was inspired by the song’s lyrics that deal with the insuperable march of time. They felt that the ‘flashing frames of time’ are ideally captured through the lens of a Super 8mm camera, at times naturally edited in some part by simply moving through moments, holding down the trigger, and choosing to remember certain aspects of a day, a trip or an extended period of travel.
