Dead Leaf Echo - Boo

Dead Leaf Echo - Boo

Richly textured with beautiful layers of shimmering guitars and catchy hooks that make you want to start the track all over again before it has even ended, that is “Boo,” the new brilliant single by Brooklyn’s Dead Leaf EchoYou know you have a true gem in your hands when even your most loyal fans fall head over heels in love with your sound once more. The excitement that teenagers experience when they are in love for the first time. The butterflies in your stomach and the tingling on your skin, all the hopes, dreams, possibilities – boo!

Of course, as complex as “Boo” is, its inspiration and intention are manifold too. It was written in part as a tribute to the late Denise Johnson (Primal Scream, New Order), the Manchester powerhouse vocalist who brought so much warmth and character to some of the Madchester movement’s most memorable moments. Dead Leaf Echo’s frontman LG Galleon says:

“Boo” was written five years ago when I was pressed by my girlfriend at the time to write a joke “Manchester” song with a hook. It quickly morphed into a partial ode to Denise Johnson who passed away during the pandemic and also into a creepy Halloween song about surveillance, discovery and scaring your “Boo” with the truth about all your hidden secrets.

“Boo” will be the title track of Dead Leaf Echo’s upcoming EP, confirmed for release on the PaperCup Music label early next year, and I can’t wait to put it on my turntable and enjoy it.
