Big Bliss - A Seat at the Table
We haven’t heard from Big Bliss in a while, but I am happy to know that they’re still around. Even better! The Brooklyn-based indie-rock trio is gearing up to release their sophomore album. Brothers Cory and Tim Race have recently added Rose Blanshei to their project, and together they just released the absolutely mesmerizing “A Seat at the Table.” The track has a careful, quiet build that draws you more and more in and makes you wish the song never ended. Lyrically, the track is inspired by all the craziness that went down during the pandemic, including the January 6th, 2021, storming of the Capitol in Washington, DC, but also other significant and tragic events. Reflecting on the song’s subject matter, Tim says:
“Every one of my peers shares in a wealth of experiences like these. They are our generation’s ‘where were you when’ moments. Television offered us just enough distance that life appeared able to go on, only with another modicum more generalized mortal fear than the time before.”
“A Seat at the Table” is off of Big Bliss’ second LP, Vital Return, out August 18th via Good Eye Records. Pre-orders will be available here. The album deals with topics around anxiety, grief, addiction, recovery, devotion, and heartache, themes that are inescapable not only because of our society and the world we live in but also simply because of growing older.
