Arny Margret & Júníus Meyvant - Spring
Iceland knows no shortage of fantastic singer-songwriters who create mesmerizing music, and Arny Margret and Júníus Meyvant are two of my favorites for quite some time. They also got just featured in glamglare’s weekly newsletter, focusing on Iceland. To be fair, I am a huge fan of soulful indie-pop musician Unna Gísli Sigurmundsson, who goes by the moniker Júníus Meyvant for a while longer, which simply has to do something with age and (!) longevity.
Now, the two songwriters have teamed up and released the pensive and mellow “Spring,” which is fascinating because of its meditative vibe, showcasing their enchanting vocals and knack for captivating melodies. The track is out via One Little Independent Records.
Asked about “Spring,” Júníus Meyvant offers:
“The song is written as a conversation between two human beings in a numb state mentally and physically in their relationship but still they have burning love for each other in a different way and want to work it out. This is my first collaboration with an artist in my own musical writing. The collaboration couldn’t have gone smoother in my opinion. Arny Margret has a unique feel and beautiful tone in her voice and music and is full of life as a person. I am very happy our voices were drift compatible on this track. And I doubt this will be our last collaboration”.
And Arny Margret adds:
“I loved doing this collaboration with Júníus Meyvant, I’ve loved his music for years so this was kind of a dream come true for me. I’m so very happy with the outcome and I hope people will love it too”.
