aimei 媚 - Dark Arts

“Dark Arts” is about an unhealthy infatuation with somebody who seems to know how to pull all the right triggers. Trapped as she may be, it remains unclear if she even wants to escape. aimei 媚 – the Chinese character is simply her name – is a Bejing-born, London-based pop singer/songwriter, who has released a string of elegant pop songs this year. “Dark Arts” is from her second EP, out on October 25.

aimei 媚 says about the song:

“‘Dark Arts’ is about being tied into a relationship with someone who has a magnetic pull on you. Almost like black magic, it feels like a game that is so magnetic that you can’t escape. Throughout this relationship it’s almost as if this person has made you someone you don’t recognise, and then you start to embody the toxicity of this person, and alas, lose yourself within it.”
