Ailsa and the Seahorses - Hermit
Edinburg-born Singer/songwriter Ailsa McEwan, who goes artistically by Ailsa and the Seahorses, traveled all over Europe, performing her fascinating brand of dream-pop before she settled four years ago in Berlin, Germany. We came across the enchanting artist before, with her song “Seventeen,” and are excited to feature her again with the mesmerizing “Hermit.” The track invites you on a journey with its driving guitar strumming and Ailsa’s hushed and beautiful vocals over it. We asked Ailsa whether she would tell us a bit more about the song, and thankfully, she was up for it. Ailsa reveals:
“I wrote Hermit in a strange and lonely time of my life, but I always held a strong feeling that this time was incredibly meaningful. In the Tarot, the Hermit always intrigued me – so mystical and profound, and full on! I definitely felt like I had been on some kind of wild introspective journey for a while, like many people in the second half of their 20’s probably. At some point I truly felt like I had become the Hermit and was living a Tarot card. It is a song about someone searching for themself out there, trying to find their way back home. Working with my bandmates in Berlin, the song really came to life, they helped create something both emotional and epic. Hopefully the track resonates with others out there!”
It certainly does! Listen to “Hermit,” our Song Pick of the Day:
