3 Is A Band: December Streets

Always on the look-out for interesting three piece bands, I came across December Streets from the capital city of South Africa, Pretoria and was instantly hooked by their very own take of upbeat synth-pop. Their music contains all the ingredients to be appealing and successful: heavy beats, big synths hooks, sing-along lyrics, big anthem choruses and great vocal chops all in a rather interesting setting. But there’s a little more… there’s something deeper, something ernest and serious which I can’t quite pinpoint. It’s just that under all the layers of feel-good there’s something like “we’re in this together, let’s make this work and feel good along the way – together.”
This being said, I would love to see December Streets playing The Great Escape Festival which they do, come Thursday. Tristan Coetzee (vocals), Corneil Clasen (drums) and Waldo Boshoff (trumpet and synths) are currently touring Europe and will make a stop in Brighton. So if you’re around, go see this South African trio.
December Streets have an EP ready -it’s fabulous, let me tell you!- and it’s going to be released pretty soon.
