SONG PICK: Azure - The Jellyfish (Video)
The exuberant joy in “The Jellyfish” is infectious and beautifully expressed in the accompanying music video. “The Jellyfish” is the latest exciting offering by Brighton-based prog-rock band Azure. We love the throw-back 70s vibe of the track, including gorgeous power vocals, rad guitar solos, and playful synths work. Think Peter Gabriel, Nick Kershaw, Saga, and the likes in an updated, contemporary setting. Glorious!
We asked frontman, Christopher Sampson, whether he could provide us with some insight into their latest single. Chris says:
Keeping it concise, ‘The Jellyfish’ is a love-letter to all the disenfranchised art students who might have left home full of ambitions, seeking independence, only to find themselves questioning everything, and losing sight of their dreams. We’ve all felt it at some point, and now that those fears are in the past for us as a band, we found it really therapeutic to cram all those old worries into a compact, fun pop song, taking influence from all the local pop and indie bands that provided the soundtrack for those weird years!
Aside from Chris, Azure is comprised of Galen Stapley (guitar), Alex Miles (bass), Sol Sinclair (drums), and Shaz Dudhia (keyboards).
