SONG PICK: Zooni – Pany
The debut single by London-based art pop quartet Zoonie instantly creates an optimistic atmosphere despite its melancholic undertones yet the bright outlook seems to win. While the gentle piano melody lured me in and the gorgeous emotive vocals sealed the deal, the song fully got me with the poetic picture of “Summer is here, birds have found their lovers and the people think of parasols”. Beautiful!
Thanks to the song’s intelligent built and exquisite execution, comparisons with some of England’s finest rock bands are unavoidable. With a debut like this, it comes as no surprise that Zoonie are already booked to play cool festivals like The Great Escape (May 9) and other shows around that date.
