SONG PICK: Spellling – Haunted Water
The “Haunted Water” refers to the Atlantic Ocean where one of the biggest crimes against humanity took place between 1500s and 1900s: the forceful deportation of Africans to be sold as slaves in the new world. With her new song Bay-area musician Chrystia Cabral aka Spellling tells her story through a dark, raw and sprawling electronic music which connects to the roots of synth-based music.
“Haunted Water” is the first single of Spellling’s second album “Mazy Fly,” due out February 22.
