SONG PICK: Annabel Allum – Em(ily)
Here’s to the best friends who help us through difficult times. In case of U.K. singer/songwriter Annabel Allum this is Emily, who tells her “to keep it real”. As a thank you, Annabel named a song after her on the new EP “Sorry I’m Not Perceptible” (Apple Music | Spotify). And it is not just any song, as she notes:
Em(ily) started off as a song of me taking the piss about how many times I go to my best mate asking for help / life advice / guidance. Allum states, “I’ve wanted to write a song for her for a very long time, eventually this came out and I’m actually really proud of it. I was able to get really experimental with this one, trying things I normally don’t get to.
The EP contains three more similarly goods songs in Annabel’s signature fuzzy, rough sound that recall personal experiences.
