SONG PICK: Rodes Rollins – Wes Come Back
Rodes Rollins’ atmospheric second single clearly draws inspiration from Italian western soundtracks and it is hard not to have a movie playing in your mind while listening to it. “Wes Comes Back” is about a long time friend of hers, whom she parted with at some point earlier in her life. The title and her fragile vocals leave not much doubt about her regret. “For a long time, during our adolescent years, our lives were very much intertwined. I think that’s why it’s so easy for me to write songs about him. There’s a lot of raw and real material for me to talk draw upon. I don’t feel that way about all of my songs.
