SONG PICK: JPNSGRLS – Bully For You
“Bully For You” starts out with distorted guitar lines, and powerful, almost angry drum beats. Once the forceful, equally passionate vocals set in, it becomes clear that this song holds purpose and wants to be more than ‘simply’ the recent single by Vancouver quartet JPNSGRLS. “Bully For You” is a raucous feminist anthem calling out the ceaseless, unfair treatment of women in a still gender biased society. Lyricist, Charlie Kerr, explains that personal life-experiences like “his many awesome, outspoken and inspiring female friends” and the desire to “be on the right side of history” as an ally to all women were inspiration to this anthem. The catchy sound and the strong lyrics of our Song Pick of the Day complete each other perfectly and form a mighty force, making us chime in to the chorus:
