Adryelle, Feral The Earthworm and Fifth Nation live at Trash Bar

Adryelle

Adryelle

Tuesday night we ventured out to Trash Bar to see Adryelle, an electronic music artist from Baltimore. She is like a darker and less flashy version of Grimes – she also performs alone behind a desk using loops and samples to create her music right there on stage. Last year’s EP Waiting Room is brilliant and she also came out with a wonderful Future Islands cover.

We wanted to call it a night after Adryelle’s show, but then we stuck around to see Feral The Earthworm a rapper from Austin and Fifth Nation, who we both enjoyed a lot. Both are backed by Musik Read, who provides beats and turntables. Fifth Nation’s King Julia also plays a kick-ass guitar, which came somewhat as a surpise after she awkwardly announced that she’s just using her Fender for a melody line here and there. We hope to see them again for SXSW in Austin.

Between the sets Chad Lewine of Honeychrome entertained by creating new songs on the spot on a Kaossilator. That all made this a very fun event. Sadly Trash Bar will close soon, but if rumors are true, it will move to a new location in Bushwick.
