Until the Ribbon Breaks at SWSW 2014
When we saw Until The Ribbon Breaks last year in Austin on our way to see a different band. I remember, I liked them, but I was more concerned with freezing on the open deck of Maggie Mae’s and the deadly accident that happened close by that night. Now they released their first album A Lesson Unlearnt and it is very good.
Until The Ribbon Breaks is a three piece from Wales that builds their songs mostly around slick beats, electronics and samples. Singer Pete Lawrie-Winfiel’s breathy voice gives their music a laid back vibe and invites collaborations with rappers, in this case Killer Mike and El-P of Run the Jewels in the excellent song Revolution Indifference.
